KLM Kiln / Boiler and Forklift Operator


THE ROLE:

We are currently recruiting for a Kiln/Boiler/Forklift Operator to assist with our Kiln/Boiler Operations.   Hours and pay rate to be discussed with successful applicant.

We operate one counter flow continuous kiln (CDK) and one batch kiln (BDK). Both are Windsor Kilns with the CDK being converted from 2 batch kilns. The CDK has been extended multiple times as the site has grown and more drying capacity has been required. Energy is supplied by 2 wood waste boilers that burn a combination of sawdust and shavings. 

One boiler is a 5MW Easteel and the other is 5MW Justsen that currently being built and will be commissioned in early May. The boilers and kilns have capacity to dry 170,000m3 of lumber per annum. This is a 24/7 operation requiring both on site and on call coverage. This includes:

  • Loading and unloading of product going in and out of the Kiln
  • Operating Kilns, Boilers and Forklifts
  • Completing relevant Quality documentation, housekeeping and maintenance tasks.
  • Working with the Kiln team to cover other duties as required

ROE REQUIREMENTS: Ideally you will have:

A background in boiler operation

  • Knowledge of drying timber
  • A strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience driving large forklifts
  • Ability to do manual and physical tasks
  • Sound written and numeracy skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Qualifications preferred but training for the right applicant in some aspects, can be provided.
